KONA LOW FLOODING: Emergency Contacts for O’ahu, Maui, & Hawai’i

As of Saturday, March 21, 2026, Hawai'i is in her third weekend of a series of severe "Kona Low" storms. A Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for all islands through Sunday, March 22. The most critical situation is currently on O'ahu, where the Wahiawa Dam is near its maximum capacity and remains at risk of failing. Evacuation Orders are still in effect for the North Shore towns of Waialua and Hale'iwa.
The brunt of the weather is currently over Maui County, moving East towards the northern half of Hawai’i island.

Evacuation orders are active for North Shore residents. As of this morning, 131 people are housed across six primary shelters:
Waialua High & Intermediate: 67-160 Farrington Hwy, Waialua.
George Fred Wright Wahiawa District Park: 1139 Kilani Ave, Wahiawa.
Asing Community Park: 91-1450 Renton Rd, Ewa Beach.
Nanakuli High & Intermediate: 89-890 Nanakuli Ave, Waianae.
Manoa Valley District Park: 2721 Kaaipu Ave, Honolulu.
Kaneohe District Park: 45-660 Keaahala Rd, Kaneohe.
Maui
MEMA has upgraded advisories to Evacuation Warnings for parts of 'Īao Valley and Kīhei.
South Maui:

No mandatory evacuations are currently reported for the Big Island, residents in flood-prone areas should monitor Hawai’i County Civil Defense: Check hawaiicounty.gov/civil-defense for the nearest active shelter based on localized rainfall.
